Everyone likes a bargain, and when you are shopping for pet products, you can look for pet shops that offer discounts. Check out your local shops and see if they offer special savings. Browsing around the different shops and stores is best; do not immediately buy without first being sure you’re getting the best deal.
A great way to find discounted pet products is via online stores. There are varieties of products that you can check out. Pet food products with discounts are the first in the list. Most of the pet owners buy their pet’s food online or at stores. Since they are the first to sell out, they set discounts on different food products and brands. This is advantageous so that the other owners will be able to buy their dogs food products. Most of the discounted food products are the all natural food products. They are quite expensive which is why they are sometimes given discounts. It is not only advantageous to the customers but also for the stores because their sales are also increasing.
The next top discounted products are the pet shampoos or soaps. These are also called the grooming products. These products also sell out easily because they are nearly as important to some owners as their dog’s food. Maintaining your pet’s grooming doesn’t simply add beauty to dogs, but it prevents them from getting different diseases and also some insects and flees on their hair. Pets look good and feel good when they are clean. Your house will also look and smell clean. Pet grooming products are quite expensive because they are made out of special ingredients. Purchasing these products online at discounted prices can save you a lot of money.
Another bargain you should take advantage of is for pet chains. Since pet chains or belts are part of the training process, many dogs use these. Dogs need chains especially when they are the type of aggressive dogs. Chains should be tough so that they cannot get away that easily from their posts or cages. Chains are quite expensive because they are made out of special and expensive materials built to last. Keeping your dogs restrained with ropes is not appropriate because they can break away from it easily. Pet owners can now buy chains at a good price because of discounts. You can be assured that your dog will stay with you for a long time.
Another way to save money on pet products is to buy wholesale. If you are buying products for your store or simply buying products in bulk, you will probably save money. If the store does not allow discounts at the moment, you can talk to the store owner and make ask for discounts. If you promise to buy from his store more often, he can consider your request and you can start earning for your own business. Keep in mind that in putting up your own pet store business, you will soon offer discounts to your customers so make the most out of your purchase.

Grus japonensis
These cranes have white bodies with black on the tips of their wings and necks. They are named because of the red circle on their heads, which is actually exposed skin. Males and females look alike. Red-crowned cranes have very long and pointy beaks and can weigh up to twenty pounds. Their wingspan can be as wide as eight feet and they can reach 5 feet in height. They are one of the world’s largest bird. Their basal metabolic rate is 31.4 cm^3 oxygen/hour.
Grus japonensis-Habitat
The red-crowned crane is a rather aquatic species among cranes. It inhabits both freshwater and saltwater wetlands and marshes as well as some rivers.
Grus japonensis-Ecology
In Russia and China, it breeds in grass, reed, and sedge marshes. In winter and on passage, it occurs in wetlands, including tidal flats, saltmarshes, rivers, wet grassland, saltpans and aquaculture ponds.

Green Frog, Brown Frog, Green Frog
When people think of a frog, they think of a green animal jumping from lillypad to lillypad. In actual fact, there are many frogs that are not green. This is not to say that a lot of frogs are in fact green. The green colour, and for this case, brown as well, is most likely a natural defense against predators. The green-brown colour blends nicely with leaves and aquatic plant life. Even some more wildly coloured frogs have some green, to blend in when sleeping.
The actual skin colour of frogs is due to an arrangement of cells in their skin. It is similar to how lizards change their colour. Frogs, while not as advanced as lizards in this area, can change the shades of their skin to suit their surroundings, or their mood. Frogs have three different pigment cells (chromatophores). They form a stack, each one on top of each other. The bottom of the stack is the melanophore cell. This cell is dark in colour. Humans have a melanophore cell, changing the shades of brown in the human skin. The next cell in the stack is called the iridophores. These cells contain purine crystals. They are highly reflective, and bundled very tightly. The top most cells are called the xanthophores. These contain yellow pigments. Light penetrates the skin, and reflects off the iridophore cells. The reflected light is filtered through the xanthophore cells, which filters out light. The escaping light looks green to our eyes. When you see a blue frog, their skin is lacking these filter cells.
Frogs can utilize these cell stacks to change colour and shades of colour when needed. The stacks change shape and size to change the intensity of the light being reflected. The melanophore cells change the darkness of the colour. The xanthophores change the filtering effects, and the iridophore cells change the reflection.
Frogs can produce a wide range of shades of green, brown and greys. Some frogs can change shades of blues and reds, but not by very much. This has extreme advantages as you can imagine. Avoiding predators is key to their survival, and this is one other way a frog accomplishes that.

Who is in Control? The Dog or the Owner?
It is common sense to think that people are in control of their dogs. We feed our dogs, walk them on a leash, tell them to sit and stay, and give them the love and affection they crave. But some dogs display dominant behavioral traits, insist on doing things their way and try to take power away from their masters. These are called Alpha dogs.
An Alpha dog is predisposed to be the leader of the pack and expect to be in charge. If your dog routinely tries to intimidate you or other dogs, is aggressive around food or generally disobedient, you probably have an Alpha dog.
Ultimately, well-trained dogs should believe their owner is the Alpha, not them. Some people think they can regain Alpha status over their dogs by being mean and aggressive. This can put even more strain on the dog/owner relationship and lead to more problems.
Here are some good ways for you to gain control over your Alpha dog once again.
Play games with your dog that encourage cooperative behavior. Fetch is a great example. When you throw a ball or stick for your dog to retrieve, the game can only continue if the dog brings the object back to you. This shows the dog that you are not an adversarial figure.
Do not play tug-of-war with your dominant dog. This game encourages adversarial behavior, pitting you and your dog against each other. And if your dog routinely wins tug-of-war matches, he is learning that he is stronger than you and that his teeth are powerful, which will encourage more disobedience and aggression.
In a pack situation, one of the ways Alpha dogs express their dominance is by eating before all other dogs. If you can, try to feed your Alpha dog a few minutes after you begin eating your own meal. This will teach the dog that you come first in the pack and encourage patience and obedience.
Do not be overly affectionate to your dog. One very common mistake people make with Alpha dogs is constantly petting, rewarding and using baby talk with the dog. Doing so gives the dog a very powerful message -- that he doesn't need to earn your respect and love. This will lead an Alpha dog to yet more dominant, disobedient acts.
Use your affection and attention as a training tool. As you teach your dog to come, sit, stay and heel, reward him with a moment of your affection for each success. Treats can be a powerful incentive too, but the best way to teach your dog is by using yourself as an incentive, rather than a treat that you can run out of. Dogs absolutely love our attention, and when you use it as a reward you will see definite results.
Use your dog's sense of territory to show your dominance. Keep certain areas of the house off limits to the dog, and keep the dog off certain pieces of furniture. If the dog breaks these boundaries, show him that he has encroached on your territory. When you go through doors and thresholds, walk ahead of your dog. The pack leader always walks in front. By placing yourself in front of your dog, you will show your Alpha status.
Hopefully this article will help you sort out your dog dominance issues. Remember, the best way to teach your dog to respect you is to start young.

Tragic Triumph of the Ghost Gorilla
When he was captured in the African country of Equatorial Guinea in 1966 (or '67 depending on the source), he was proclaimed a miracle by the local villagers. But the real miracle was the fact that he managed to live to the ripe old age of 40 (80 in human years).
HIS NAME WAS SNOWFLAKE AND THIS IS HIS STORY
Snowflake's first encounter with Lady Luck was when he was discovered as an orphaned gorilla by a hunter. Whether the particulars of his discovery are accurate or not, what is not in question is the good fortune that landed him in the hands of a Spanish naturalist for the princely sum of sixty pounds.
Snowflake suffered from a condition known as albinism (individuals with this condition are referred to as albinos) which occurs in individuals who lack the pigment melanin. Albinos typically have very pale skin and are also very sensitive to the sun and light in general.
There are those who may argue that it was misfortune rather than fortune that ultimately landed Snowflake in captivity, but the reality is, an albino gorilla would have next to no chance of surviving in the wild. Not only would Snowflake have had to deal with the daily ravages of ultra-violet rays from the equatorial sun, but due to his color he also would have been a walking food advertisement for natural gorilla predators.
Okay granted, gorillas have few predators other than man, but they do exist, and the one that springs foremost to mind is the leopard. The white color of his hair (gorillas have hair not fur) would have made Snowflake unmistakably easy to spot in the wild by a prowling predator such as a leopard, be it night or day.
Anyway assuming tale of his discovery is accurate, it may suggest that Snowflake was ostracized and ultimately abandoned by his gorilla group, including his mother. And why not! This scenario is not too far fetched; if man is not above discrimination or ostracization of those who are different, even in this present day and age, why should we expect radically different behavior from gorillas who also happen to be
HOW A COLORLESS GORILLA PUT THE COLOR BACK INTO BARCELONA ZOO
Barcelona city embraced Snowflake as one of their own, or more accurately, they simply adored him! Known as Copito de nieve in Spanish, Snowflake soon enough became the City Mascot and the overwhelming crowd-puller at Barcelona Zoo. The young white gorilla was featured on postcards, stamps and posters and was responsible for drawing millions of tourists to the zoo.
But how did all that new found fame affect Snowflake? Well, in his 37 years at the zoo, Snowflake fathered 22 offspring (grandkids included) from three females, gawking tourists notwithstanding. Much has been made of his scowling demeanor and apparent irascible temperament, but as mentioned before albinos suffer from extreme sensitivity to light and thus characteristically squint...which on the face of a gorilla may seem like scowling.
Also it should come as no surprise that Snowflake was not much inclined to gambol and frolic in the sun for the zoo visitors' entertainment...his condition largely precluded such tendencies.
And so what if Snowflake wasn't always amenable to playing the game of be-nice-for-the tourists. Would you? Just imagine how you would feel if you were subjected to constant scrutiny, day-in-day-out, by rude, bad mannered hairless apes (people).
Having said that though, Snowflake's situation could have been much worse; if he had stayed in the wild it is highly unlikely that he would have survived for long. Also, by the time Snowflake was introduced to Barcelona Zoo, many of the misconceptions about gorilla lifestyles had since been resolved.
It was due to such prevailing ignorance with respect to gorillas that not long before gorillas in zoos were fed on a diet of meat and kept in solitary cells. For a gregarious, vegetarian species, such conditions had to be sheer torture!
DEATH OF A STAR
Like any well known celebrity, Snowflake's death in late 2003 caused a minor ripple on the Richter scale, and by the time the dust finally settled what remained was a city one-in-mourning yet strangely divided. (Snowflake was put to sleep because the symptoms of the malignant melanoma (cancer) which was diagnosed in 2001 were becoming increasingly painful...besides he was pretty old for a gorilla)
There're many who claimed and felt that the zoo authorities had unashamedly exploited the ailing gorilla to the point of undue cruelty. The zoo authorities countered that they were merely giving the citizens of Barcelona the chance to bid a final farewell to the most famous of their eminent sons. But like a hit movie oozing with sequel potential the good folks at the zoo left nothing to chance.
Although none of Snowflake's offspring turned out as albinos the authorities were indeed hoping to breed a dominant variant of the gene (another albino gorilla) from the offspring gene-pool. It is not unreasonable to speculate that they were hoping to recapture Snowflake's superstar appeal with a next-gen Ghost Gorilla.

Dog Treats: The Purpose And The Rationale
Many dog owners love to spoil their dogs once in a while with a special treat. However, with all the different treats to choose from, how do you choose the best treat for your dog? How do you know what is safe and what isn't? If you decide to make your own dog treats, how do you know what ingredients won't be harmful to your dog? Should you give your dog new toys for treats, or special food? With so many kinds and types of treats on the market, one can easily become overwhelmed when trying to decide what is best for their dog. You should choose a dog treat that you think will suit your dog best. All dogs are different, even dogs of the same breed, so you should your dogs individual personality and health in mind when selecting a treat. You should think about how active your dog is, what you plan to use the treats for, your dog's health, any known food allergies that he may have, and how big he is. Many pet stores carry treats that are specially formulated for certain dog breeds. They are made with ingredients that are guaranteed to be safe for your dog to consume, and easy for him to digest. Even though they are a little on the expensive side, these are the safest option for giving your dog a dietary treat. You can basically be one hundred percent sure that these treats will cause no problem for your beloved pet. If your dog is really active, or competes in shows, he may need to have more fat and protein in his diet than normal dogs. Extra fat and protein will help give him the energy he needs to be able to do his routines. So if your dog needs a lot of energy, or is involved in any kind of competitive shows, or exercise regimens, then you probably should choose treats that have extra protein and fat that he can turn into extra energy. You should keep in mind what purpose you intend the dog treats to serve. Are they just a nice way to spoil your puppy? Are you going to be using them for training purposes? Will they be used as something to help keep your puppy satisfied while you are busy or have to be away? If you are giving your puppy a treat just to be nice, then make certain that the treat you give him is healthy and low in fat, especially if you plan to give them to him on a regular basis. It is very easy for dogs to become obese, which can result in a whole slew of health problems. Giving your dog treats for training purposes can help reward him for good behavior, just make certain that you get him a small treat, something that he can he in one bite. It should be a treat that he really likes, and can eat fairly quickly, so you can continue training. Only allowing your dog to have this special dog treat as a reward for training will give it extra purpose. In the event that you are busy, or have to be away from home for a while, it is a good idea to leave your dog a treat that will keep him busy during that time. Small bits of food, will not suit the purpose, as these will probably all be gobbled up before you can get your car out of the driveway. Bones and rawhide chews are usually good for this purpose. It can take some dogs hours to get through a rawhide bone, and while giving him something that occupies his time, you are also giving him something that helps maintain his dental health as well. Try to pick the bone that is the correct size for your dog, if you one that is too small it will not last long, and you also run a risk of him getting it lodged in his throat. If you get a bone that is too big, he won't be able to manipulate it so that he can chew it. It is important that you choose something that will not break into smaller pieces, as these can be potentially fatal choking hazards for your dog, especially if he will be left alone with his treat. Always keep your dog's health in mind when purchasing treats, and remember to read the labels carefully. If you know that your dog is allergic to a particular food, learn how to read labels and all of the possible names that it may be hidden as. Your veterinarian can help you learn what to look for to make sure that what you buy is safe for your dog. If you are trying to treat your dog but still protect your budget, you may want to consider making your own dog treats from home. Many treats can be made with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry, and that are numerous resources available on the internet that can give you recipes and directions. There are some foods that are very dangerous for your dog, so make certain that you double check all of your ingredients first, just to be on the safe side. Not only can making your own home made dog treats can save you a considerable amount of money, you will know that all of the ingredients are of high quality, and that there is nothing in the treat that could possibly be harmful for your dog. Don't allow your dog to eat table scraps, and never let him have any food that contains onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, chocolate, caffeine, or any kind of dairy products. These can cause a variety of symptoms, ranging from stomach upset, to death. If your dog has any allergies that you know of, be careful not to include anything that could cause a reaction in your homemade treats. Remember, that treats should be given as they are intended, and are not meant to be a staple in your dog's diet. Your dog still needs to maintain a healthy diet and weight, to ensure he has a long healthy life. Treats should not be more than ten percent of your dog's daily diet, less if he already has a weight problem. If you have further questions or concerns, consult your veterinarian.
